Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee On Broadway

On this date in 1961 Purlie Victorious, a farce by Ossie Davis, opened on Broadway. It was later made into the 1963 film Gone Are the Days!, using the entire original cast. The show also included his wife Rudy Dee.
