Today In Black History: Arsenio Hall

On this date in 1989 The Arsenio Hall Show premiered. It is the first regularly scheduled nightly talk show to star an African American as the host. To this day Hall believes that his decision to have Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan as a guest in February 1994 turned affiliates, advertisers and some viewers off the show, ultimately leading to the show's cancellation three months later. The show would go on to be aired until May 27, 1994.
