Happy Independence Day Liberia.

On this date in 1847 Liberia became an independent republic. The first president was Joseph Jenkins Roberts, a native of Virginia. The history of Liberia is very unique. It is one of the few countries in Africa, and the only country in West Africa, without roots in the European Scramble for Africa.
